Who We Are.

Rahway River Trout Unlimited is one of the newest New Jersey Trout Unlimited chapters. We are an organization of men and women that strive to protect our cold freshwater fisheries throughout the state. Our members meet once a month, discuss many topics from conservation to fishing. We also go on fishing trips throughout the year, conduct river cleanups, host fly tying events, and partake in many other activities. If you like fishing or just want to give back to the environment then RRTU is for you. So tell a friend, come on out and enjoy yourself, learn a few new things, meet some new fishing buddies, and perhaps even consider joining our Trout Unlimited Chapter - #155. We meet at the Cranford Community Center for our General meetings and Fly tying nights.

This weekend...

A Note From the Director:
Welcome to the 21st Somerset Fly Fishing Show. Many of you have enjoyed the show for years as loyal attendees, but if this is your first visit, get ready to be overwhelmed. There is so much to see and learn you’ll work hard to plan your routine. With fly fishing manufacturers here to present their latest products, dealers to offer everything for sale at a range of prices, tiers sharing their secret techniques, celebrities of our sport to meet face-to-face, lectures, classes, casting demos, guides, lodges, and on and on, it’s all here for you to enjoy.
Last year we introduced our first international Film Festival to a crowd of 500+ happy fly fishers. It’s back again, with new adventures and mesmerizing filming from around the world. Mark your calendar for Friday night.
You can visit for a day, but you’ll need all three days to just scratch the surface. There are over 10 programs every hour of each day, and over 200 exhibits to keep you very busy. The smart choice is to stay over at one of our show hotels. You’ll have lots of friends to keep the evening active.
Thank you for all your support and enjoy the world’s largest show for
flyfishing. This is the location that all fly fishers have on their list to attend.  It's a must see event at some point. Looking forward to seeing you.

Women’s Initiative (WI) Program at NJ TU

 Be Part of it......
Trout Unlimited is America's leading coldwater conservation organization

Make a Difference.....
Be a grassroots advocate for protection of the environment

Leave a Legacy.....
Work to ensure we have clean, cold, fishable water for generations to come

The main goal of the NJ State Council of Trout Unlimited Women’s Initiative is to provide support for chapters to recruit new members to TU as well as engage current members to network with other women and become involved in chapter projects and river outings.  As a grass roots effort campaign, the NJ State Council hopes to see an increase in women involvement and work to empower new leaders to share their passion for cold water conservation. Whether new to the sport or an experienced angler, the idea to unite women in the state and open communication will serve to enrich our membership. There are future plans to organize outings in Spring, which will give women in the state the opportunity to gather together for fishing and camaraderie.
If you have any questions or are interested in learning more about the NJ TU Women’s Initiative Program, contact coordinator Kelly E. Buchta at kebuchta@njtu.org

The Somerset Fly Fishing Show will host an incredible gathering of professional women anglers and enthusiasts in a Women’s Forum. A panel of professional women in the fly fishing industry will discuss fishing lodges, world travel, conservation, retreats, angling, gear and much more. This is probably the greatest meeting ever of top women professional guides, fly clubs, authors, lodge owners and fly tiers. Panel members will provide a short introduction and the floor will then be opened for questions and answers. It will be a fun one hour of networking. This is an incredible gathering of talent and expertise in each location. Don’t miss this opportunity to have a collective panel of women experts answer any questions you have ever had.  All levels of fishing experience welcome and we encourage audience participation.  This is going to be great fun!

Last night the ball dropped in Times Square to ring in 2013. The ball drop tradition dates back only to the early 1900s, when The New York Times owner Alfred Ochs, whose offices were in Times Square, convinced the city to let him throw a grand party. The first 400-pound iron and wood orb featured 100 bulbs and was lowered down a flagpole. Now it’s an 11,875-pound, 12-foot geodesic globe encrusted with 2,688 Waterford crystals. This tradition is the start of a new year which is now upon us - whether we are ready or not.
Remember that now is the time not only to renew your resolutions but also your New Jersey Freshwater Fishing License that expired last night on December 31st. Good news...you can buy your 2013 NJ fishing license online right now and be on the water in minutes! If you’re like me and itching to go fishing on any day off from work you have, you can. Visit this page http://www.njfishandwildlife.com/als/websalesintro.htm scroll all the way to the bottom and click the Start Here button.
To make the purchase of your 2013 NJ fishing license as painless as possible, have last year’s license handy. You’ll need the 9digit CID number off it which identifies your unique license. If you don’t have last year’s license you can still proceed with your Social Security Number. You can pay with electronic check or credit card. The License will be presented to you as a PDF file which you can save and / or print. You can even print multiple copies which is nice....keep one in your vest, one in your car and one on file!
